Brian J. Johnson is a 3rd Degree Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt under Rigan Machado, David Meyer, and John Will. He began training BJJ in 1994 and since has won 2 IBJJF world no gi titles, a gold medal at the 2009 ADCC regional trials, and finished in first place at the 2009 Can Ams.

Denise received her Black Belt from Brian Johnson in 2012. She has been a dedicated student since the Academy was established in 1995. Denise is well-versed in the art of Jiu Jitsu and has been teaching the basic and advanced classes when Brian is absent. She is also available for private lessons upon request.

Phil began grappling early. He started wrestling at age 6, and continued into high school. He rediscovered the art of grappling as an adult and began training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at Northwest Jiu-Jitsu Academy. He received his Black Belt from professor Brian Johnson in 2016. Since he begin training in 2006, he has competed actively. He also discovered his love for coaching and teaching. This is seen in his enthusiasm for teaching kids & helping them to be better, both on & off of the mat.
